Whether headed out for spring break or just taking a much-needed family road trip, we’ve got a list of the top 5 games that you and your passengers can play on the go. So, if you can convince your family or friends to play with you, try these 5 games so everyone can have some fun.

The Movie Game

Everyone likes the movies, so if you’ve got some passengers that consider themselves buffs, find out who really knows their stuff by playing the movie game. Whoever starts the game begins by selecting an actor, then the next person will pick a movie that that person is in, and next in line must pick someone else from that movie, and then rinse and repeat. So for instance, if I say “Matt Damon,” and then person two says “Good Will Hunting,” then person three could say “Ben Affleck,” “Robin Williams,” “Minnie Driver,” or anyone else from the film.

Alphabetical Categories

Often confused with the alphabet game, alphabetical categories doesn’t actually require you to look out the windows. Someone will choose a category, then everyone must take turns saying something that belong to that category… in alphabetical order. So, if the category was “bands,” players would have to start with A, then B, then C and so on. “ABBA,” “Black Sabbath,” “Credence Clearwater Revival,” et cetera.

Celebrity Name Game

All you need for the celebrity name game is to know a healthy amount of celebrity names. Each player will have to name a celebrity whose first name starts with the first letter of the previous name’s last name. That sentence sounds confusing, but it’s easy. If player one says “Norman Reedus” then player two could say something like “Rick Astley” or “Rex Ryan.” But note, if someone says a name like Rex Ryan whose first and last name start with the same letter, the player order is reversed. It’s also important to note that you can’t say singular names like “Rihanna.”

Cows on My Side

If you want to play a game that’s a little more silent and doesn’t take as much critical thinking, then Cows on My Side is the game for you. All you have to do is say “cows on my side” if you see cows on your side of the road, or “cows on your side” if they’re on the other side. If someone from the other side of the vehicle says “cows on your side” before you see them, they steal a point from you. If you say “cows on my side” first, you get the point. Whenever someone spots a cemetery, they can shout “ghost cow” and steal all of the other side’s points.

The Alphabet Game

Finally, the classic alphabet game, in which you have to find words on the side of the road in alphabetical order. You can use street signs, billboards, other vehicles, et cetera et cetera. Have fun with it!

The number one rule of all of these games is: no cheating by using the internet! Put your smart device away for a while and play a game with your friends or family.
