Automotive Spring Cleaning Checklist

Today is officially the first day of spring, which means there’s a pretty good chance you’ve already started – or at least started thinking about – spring cleaning. When you’re done deep cleaning your house or apartment, don’t forget that your vehicle got just as if not even dirtier than your home did over the winter. Interior

  • Remove items that don’t belong
  • Throw away trash
  • Wipe down everything with all-purpose cleaner
    • Dashboard
    • Instrument panel
    • Center console
    • Doors and storage areas
    • Steering wheel
    • Rear shift
    • Cup holders
    • Leather seats
    • Air vents
    • Buttons
  • Wash all windows, screens and glass/plastic
    • Windshield
    • Windows
    • Instrument panel
    • Display audio
    • Sunroof/moonroof
    • Rear window
  • Vacuum/shampoo any cloth
    • Floor mats
    • Cloth seats
    • Carpets
    • Rear window sill
  • Get rid of any bad odors

Exterior

  • Rinse off full exterior, including oft forgotten:
    • Undercarriage
    • Wheel wells
  • Wash full exterior, including oft forgotten:
    • Tires
    • Wheels
    • Windshield wipers
    • Inside fuel door
  • Wax the body
  • Utilize any additional deep cleaning products/techniques
    • Special insect cleaner for grille/bumper
    • Tire shine
    • Wheel polish

Maintenance

  • Check your tire tread and pressure
  • Replace windshield wipers if necessary
  • Get your oil changed if necessary
  • Check your battery charge
  • Top off all fluids
  • Replace cabin air filter
