When you notice that your car is beginning to overheat the first thing that you should do is turn off the air conditioner if it is on. Although the air conditioner does a great job of cooling down the interior cabin, it can put stress on your vehicle, which can cause it to overheat.

Turn up the Heat!

We know that this is going to be uncomfortable for you. However, if you notice that your car is starting to overheat you should turn your heater on. Turning on the heater will pull heat from the engine compartment into the passenger cabin and may alleviate the rising temperatures long enough to get you to the repair shop.

Shift to Neural and Push Down on the gas Pedal in Tight Traffic

If you find yourself in tight traffic with an overheating car we recommend shifting into neutral and hitting the gas. This will cause your fan and water pump to speed up, which could help to reduce overheating.

If Your car is Severely Overheating, pull over

An overheated car can do serious damage to your vehicle. Therefore, if you notice that your car is severely overheating, we recommend pulling over to the side of the road immediately and calling a tow truck. After all, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
