One common mistake that people shopping for a new vehicle make is assuming that the manufacturer’s warranty covers everything. While a manufacturer’s warranty is definitely important and a nice thing to have, it’s not all-encompassing. Wearable Items

A vehicle is made with several parts that are essentially designed to wear down and get replaced. Examples of this would be tires, brakes, lights and even some belts and hoses. These are parts that are expected to wear out because of the nature of their job. Getting parts like these replaced usually isn’t covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.

Body Panels

It’s important to note that damage to your body panels won’t be covered by your warranty, that’s what insurance is for. If you get in an accident, the damage to your body won’t be covered by the warranty. If you get some scratches on a panel or get a door ding, they won’t be covered either.

Interior Wear & Tear

Finally, things that go on in your interior most likely won’t be covered. If the problem stems from the manufacturers making a mistake while they were building it, then that will be covered by the warranty. But if your seat belt gets worn out from over use, or you burn a hole in your upholstery, et cetera, those things won’t be covered.

Those are generally things that won’t be covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. It’s also important to note that most warranties will be voided if you utilize it in unusual ways, like as a snowplow for instance. While hearing all of these things might make it seem like the warranty is completely useless, we assure you there are still plenty of things that are covered by the warranty – like things that go wrong with the engine, or the transmission, or any mistakes that the manufacturer might have made.
