Clean out and freshen up your vehicle this spring

Spring cleaning tips for your car

Do you feel that? The birds are chirping, the sun is out longer, and the temperatures are rising. Springtime is here, and with this season of renewal comes a sense of rejuvenation. Spring cleaning has become such a cultural norm, and with good reason. During the winter, we may tend to keep things packed in or let things go in terms of clutter and general cleanliness. Now that winter is over, it is time to bring everything up to its natural beauty, and that includes your vehicle. We have a few spring cleaning tips for your car that you may find useful.

Want to sell your car at some point? Here’s how to maintain its value.

Four ideas for cleaning your car

  1. a car tire being washedWash your car. This seems like the most obvious way to clean it, but it really is important. Winter packs a lot of nasty precipitation that gathers on the roads, and it splashes up on your car in an unsightly mixture of water, dirt, and possibly some corrosive salt if the roads were being treated for ice or snow. Wash that off as soon as you can so it does not cause any permanent damage.
  2. Clean the inside of your car. It is entirely possible that your car has gathered receipts for Christmas gifts or discounted Valentine’s Day candy, which are now branded with muddy shoeprints. Gather it all up and toss that clutter in the trash. When that is finished, vacuum the carpeting and floor mats, and even clean them with carpet cleaner if they have gotten particularly dirty.
  3. Replace the windshield wipers. This should be done about every six months or so, and it is a good idea to replace the ones that took a beating from the wintertime. Spring can also be filled with day after day of rain, and you will need fresh wipers that work.
  4. Check everything over. Are your tires properly inflated? Are your fluids topped? Are you on schedule for your next oil change? Take care of all of these items to be sure your car will drive properly.
